Description

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe prices in Kenya

Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) pipe is one of the most widely used pipes in the Kenya. Due to its versatile nature, PVC is used extensively across a broad range of industrial, technical and everyday applications including widespread use in building, transport, irrigation systems and smart agriculture applications, thus enabling the polyvinyl chloride pipe prices in Kenya to be a major factor to be considered.

Polyvinyl Chloride pipes(PVC) awaiting for installation

The smart agriculture applications involve the use of vertical and conical garden construction. These practices increase the vertical utilization of land where the lands are scarce or expensive to purchase.

PVC pipe is a very durable and long lasting material which can be used in a variety of applications, either where rigid or flexible nature of the job is required. Moreover, they come in various colors of white, grey or black.

PVC pipes come in various sizes measured either in millimeters or in inches. The running length of each pipe is normally six (6) meters and each size determines the price of each pipe.

The table below shows the available PVC pipes sizes and the prices in Kenya.

Pipe in millimeters Pipe size in inches Running length in meters Price
20 1/2 6 110
25 3/4 6 190
32 1 6 300
40 1 ¼ 6 400
50 1 ½ 6 510
63 2 6 650
75 2 ½ 6 950
90 3 6 1,050

Polyvinyl Chloride prices in Kenya depending on the classes or the gauges

However, the prices differ with the types and the classes of the pipe. These differences is brought by the material compact and density thus contributing to classes or gauges like Class A,B,C,D and E. For instance the less strong classes are A and B while the strongest classes are from class C to E.

As said earlier, the higher the class, the stronger and the more expensive the pipe will cost. For a good choice of the PVC pipe firstly, take into consideration the work you want to perform. Is it light or heavy task? From this question one is able to go for economical pipe with the strength required.

The lower classes are best recommended for light duties .i.e. duties performed under low pressures like gravitational water flow at low pressures. The reason as to why these pipes are recommended for these duties is because they have low pressure withstanding capacity, relatively low crack resistance with high wall rough co-efficient.

But for the higher classes or higher gauges we normally advice the farmer using water pump as the water driving mechanism to go for these pipes because their mechanical walls are thicker and stronger to withstand these high pressures.

Uses of Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) on smart agriculture

The pipe situations or locations also determine the class or the gauge of the pipe to be used. Farmer using buried pipes on the ground can be advised to use the low pressure pipes because the pipe is less exposed to mechanical damage and UV degradation since they are less exposed to sun rays.

Installation of polyvinyl chloride pipes

For good installation of PVC pipes the final user must follow these procedures;

  • Ensure you acquire the right tools to work with. These tools may include hack saws and blades, Tangit adhesive glue, protection gears and the required PVC fittings which may include valve pressure sockets, tees, elbows, rubber rings, e.t.c
  • Make sure there are no cracks along the pipe length
  • For the underground laying of pipes, dig a channel of a width of a foot with the depth depending on the size of the pipe.
  • Lengths beyond six meters running length are joined using the Tangit adhesive glue on the ground surface and then waited for at least ten minutes for the glue to dry.
  • Before rolling the joined pipes into the channel, first ensure the joint are correctly joined with the sharpened end facing the water intake and the rubber rings correctly placed. Secondly ensure that there are no stones in the channel to interfere with the running lengths and the joints of the pipes.
  • Cover the pipes leaving out the joints to be buried after water testing.
  • After the water testing cover the pipe joints

Properties of PVC pipes

  • High chemical resistance
  • Very tough and durable
  • Resistant to cracking and any other leakages
  • Environmentally friendly since they are recycled
  • Very light
  • Generally they are relatively cheap as compared to other types of pipes

Advantages of polyvinyl chloride pipes (PVC)

The PVC s pipe for irrigation for sale in Kenya have various advantages compared to other types of pipes which are;

  • Green environmental protection

Non-toxic, tasteless, after strict health monitoring, belongs to green building materials, never scale, can effectively improve water quality.

  • Corrosion resistance

Pipelines are resistant to corrosion by a variety of chemical, and chemicals present in the soil do not cause any degradation or damage to the pipeline.

  • No leakage

The PVC pipe system for irrigation is manufactured at a very high standard rate where that does not perform any form of leakage, and the strength of the joint is higher than the strength of the pipes.

  • High toughness

The material used in manufactured of PVC irrigation pipes is generally less. For the uneven settlement, its adaptability is very strong and the seismic performance is good. Hence it brings about a high toughness

  • Crack resistance

The PVC pipe for irrigation has high propagation system for piping usually has some adhesive factors, which has high crack resistance which harden the material help to avoid the breaking of the pipe

  • Good wear resistance

The PVC pipe has Good wear resistance, low wall friction coefficient, low flow resistance flexibility and strong conveying capacity which enable free wear resistance

  • Excellent

The PVC irrigation pipe can be used in a variety of trench less ways, easy to construction and installation at the field, which it’s the best

  • Low cost

The PVC pipe for irrigation has a Low system cost and low maintenance cost can greatly reduce project costs.

  • Long service life

The buried irrigation pipe is normally used for 55 years, which usually gives long time service

  • Recyclable, environmentally friendly

The PVC irrigation pipes and materials can be reused, fully in line with the nationally advocated efficient environmental protection concept. Where that its environmentally friendly, and recyclable which it’s Eco-friendly
